When you drive to Nyukani Education Centre, you get onto the Giyani main road from town. You snake your way through the township until the scenery slowly changes into small rural dwellings on your right-hand side and a great mountain on your left. The mountain is surrounded by a community of old and young trees, the songs of birds and the perfect stillness of nature. After climbing over one or two small hills and negotiate with cows and goats crossing the road, you finally meet the majestic entrance of Nyukani Education Centre, as if out of nowhere.
In terms of socio-economic development, tt100 intends to cooperate with the Gqumeni Primary School (teachers, students and parents), representatives from the surrounding community as well as potential external stakeholders to create a technology hub for the surrounding community of the Gqumeni Primary School.
The goal was to re-furbish the existing computer lab at the school with new desktop computers and to offer online skills development programmes in cooperation with the Da Vinci Institute and other Corporate sponsors. This was done and completed with the aim to probe the integration of the Gqumeni Primary School and community into its surrounding socio-economic system.
