Maybe we would have done even better if the economy had been up to speed,\u201d says Alex Roberts, Regional Director: Sales and Operations of Cura Risk Management.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>That level of growth in 2018 might be understandable in a\nstart-up coming off a small revenue base, but Cura is an established company\nwith a 16-year track record, not a start-up. So how has its South African\nbusiness unit managed to buck the trend of flat sales and sluggish growth?<\/p>\n\n\n<p>A contributing factor is the nature of its business. Being\nin the business of providing Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) software solutions,\nCura is in the right place at the right time. \u201cSouth African companies are\ngetting a lot more pressure for good governance and we are in that space,\u201d says\nAlex. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>But that would only be part of the story \u2013 and a small part\nat that. The real secret behind Cura Risk Management\u2019s success is its mastery\nof innovation. Take its ability to service customers at both ends of the\nmarket, from small to large, as well as everything in between.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cCompetitors generally focus on one end of the market or the\nother,\u201d says Ross Saunders, Director for Global Technology Services. \u201cWe service\nboth ends, from corporations that require very complex nuances to small clients\nthat want enterprise-grade software in a hosted environment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p>In the past, enterprise-grade software would have been out\nof the reach of most small enterprises but Cura has bridged the gap. \u201cWith\nSMEs, affordability is the problem and historically, they would only have been\nable to afford a lesser product. Now, because our product set is unique and we\nuse different business models, we can offer small clients a solution similar to\nsomething a massive financial services company would use, yet focused to their\nown needs,\u201d says Alex. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>As for large companies \u2013 Cura\u2019s traditional market \u2013 they\ntoo are under pressure to up their Governance, Risk and Compliance game, and\ntend to be receptive to Cura-style innovation. Its business model for large\nenterprises is integrated and built on a single source of the truth, he says. \u201cWe\ncombine risk management, business continuity, internal audit, SHEQ, incident management,\nIT risk management, etc, all as a single, fully integrated solution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p>This differentiation, along with a technology platform that\nis constantly evolving, underpins the kind of growth that many South African\ncompanies can only dream of.
